Type E-commerce Development
Role Developer, Technical Manager
I have been working with WRP since 2009 when they were a small two-person joinery business. Initially the brief was to create a simple website to get them online. It went very well. Within a year we’d added simple e-commerce functionality and by focusing on usability and SEO sales began to pick up.
As such WRP became my biggest client. Today I manage the website working with remote teams across the country and overseas, while also continuing to develop on it myself. At any one time we have several project streams running in parallel. The website is deeply integrated with business proceeses on site at WRP, such as manufacturing, stock control, order processing and bespoke pricing among other things.
The website now regularly takes 40-50 large orders a day. As of August 2020 annual net sales are £1.98M. This has been achieved by focusing on usability, technical excellence (it’s fast) and – central to everything – the development of a dynamic pricing algorithm that offers highly competitive pricing at scale, which makes it extremely attractive to trade customers.
The site serves over 900 products as well as providing on-demand bespoke pricing. Frontend modular applications work with a private REST API for dynamic funcionality. And the customer-facing site is just the tip of the iceberg – the back office control panel provides order management, CRM, quotations, product mangement, statistical analysis and even financial exports for accounting purposes.
Here is some of the technolgy used to make it all work:
