I’m very sad to announce that my mum Anna Rowbotham, passed away on 5 November 2025, after a very long illness. My dad, brothers and I are heartbroken to lose her and will miss her dearly.

She died from Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) which is a term for a range of lung disorders. In Mum’s case, like many others, the condition led to severe Pulmonary Fibrosis (PF) – irreversible scarring deep within her lungs. This makes it impossible to draw enough oxygen, causing devastating breathlessness. It’s a cruel fate that is hard to witness, and unimaginably traumatic for the one suffering.

If you would like to make a donation, so that one day hopefully others can be helped, then we would be truly grateful. Visit the link justgiving.com/page/in-memory-of-anna

And please... look after your lungs. It’s terrifying to see someone you love lose what most of us take for granted: The ability to breathe. In Mum’s case she did nothing to cause it, her form of ILD was related to rheumatoid arthritis which she also suffered with.
